During the German offensive against France, the German army captured hundreds of French tanks, including the Hotchkiss H-39. Between 1942 and 1943, 48 Hotchkiss H-39s were converted into self-propelled artillery. On the chassis was installed 10.5 cm howitzer. On most machines was established French howitzer leFH 18, but some were equipped with leFH 16. The only extant car is in France, in the Museum of Saumur.
