the Challenger 2 is the current main battle tank of the British army and is the culmination of 80 years of tank building. Its development began in 1986. In 1987, the project was submitted to the Ministry of defense in response to the requirement to replace the Chieftain MBT, which was partially superseded by Challenger 1. Production began in 1993, and the tank was finally commissioned in 2002.
