Additional Information
the Terms of reference for the production of the scout-spotter were issued before the Second world war, in 1937. In 1938, the first flight took place, used since 1940. The aircraft has an unusual, but thoughtful design, where the latest achievements of aircraft construction are combined with ease of maintenance, production and operation. The design is almost completely made of light alloys, the fabric covering was used only for rudders and ailerons. The aircraft was used exclusively on the Eastern front. Often the appearance in the sky, "frame" entailed the artillery strikes and bombers, so the shooting down Fw-189 was a priority. However, the aircraft, despite the low speed was a very difficult goal because of the high maneuverability, survivability and defensive weapons.
Modification FW.189A-1 Nacht Jager was created for a very specific task - the fight against low-speed PO-2(U-2), which could not cope with heavy night fighters Ju.88C and Bf.110G as had too high speed and low maneuverability for effective interception of biplanes. The aircraft was equipped with a radar FuG 212 (characteristic antenna) and mg 151/15 machine gun (a rare example of a night fighter with light weapons).
