Commercially available since 1959. Over the years of production, the aircraft was repeatedly upgraded. In total, 1242 an-12 aircraft of various modifications were built at three plants. Under the designation Y-8 aircraft was built in China. 183 aircraft are exported. An-12 aircraft still remain in service. They are also used in civil aviation by various airlines.
the Antonov-12 is a cantilever monoplane of full metal design with upper wing location. It is intended for landing and parachute landing of personnel of troops and various military cargoes, as well as for transportation of wounded and large-size national economic cargoes. To facilitate loading and unloading operations, the landing and transport equipment includes a beam crane with a capacity of 3000 kg, a winch and a conveyor. The fuselage of the aircraft is a semi-monocoque and consists of two pressurized cabin crew: bow and stern. The cabin is made with partial reservation. In the aft there is a cargo hatch with three doors. The chassis is tricycle, retracted into the fuselage. In the aft 2 guns AM-23 (ammunition — 350 rounds each) are installed. Initially, the capacity of the An-12 was limited to 14.2 tons (later increased to 16 tons).
