Structurally, it was supposed to be an extremely simple two-stage system, easy to operate and cheap to produce. The first version of the Zur "Rheintocher" R-1 with a total length of 5.7 m weighed 1748 kg. the First stage was a cylinder of twelve-millimeter steel, closed by two spherical covers: the upper - deaf, and the lower - with seven nozzles. The Central nozzle was envisaged as a replacement. The package included several variants of nozzles with different cross-sections, designed for different values of temperature and humidity.
