In the first half of world war II, German intelligence units made extensive use of a series of SD heavy armored vehicles.Kfz.231. Eight-Wheeled Sd.Kfz.232 was equipped with Fu radio.11 and had a large frame antenna mounted on the body. The turret housed a 20mm KwK30 gun and MG34 machine gun. This large and heavy armored car had excellent off-road terrain, and on the roads developed a speed of up to 90 km/h Sd.Kfz.The 231 (8-Rad) was the world's first all-wheel-drive eight-wheel-drive armored car, another feature being the two driver seats in the front and rear of the car. Sd.Kfz.232 was used in Europe, North Africa and Russia.
