Fennec, named after a small desert Fox, is a light reconnaissance vehicle. The machine is a joint development of Germany and the Netherlands to replace the aging machines of these armies. In April 2000, the prototype was field tested, and in December 2001 a combined order was placed, 410 was ordered by the Royal Netherlands army and 222 by the German army.
