Road complex for launching medium-range ballistic missiles. The DF-21 (East wind 21) was successfully tested in 1985, becoming the first Chinese mobile missile system. The improved version of the DF-21A has an increased range and better accuracy thanks to the complex guidance based on GPS and radar data. The artillery formations of the Chinese army consist of six vehicles including a commander's vehicle, a logistics support vehicle, a vehicle for recharging the complexes and actually three ballistic missile launch vehicles. The rockets are transported in sealed canisters with multiple access hatches for maintenance.
