Additional Information
Creating a self-propelled gun SU-100 design team ChKZ could not assume that the fast pace taken by them in the early spring of 1944, will be broken by the unavailability of the d-10S to combat operation. In fact, the first serial SU-100 could be sent to the front in the summer, but numerous technical problems forced to postpone the serial launch of the ACS for several months. Instead, a series of self-propelled gun was launched SU-85M, is a symbiosis of the Corus and chassis of the SU-100 and 85-mm gun D-5S from the SU-85. Since this measure was of a temporary nature, the Uralmash plant developed its own version of the ACS, armed with a 122-mm d-25S gun (developed by the NKV plant No. 9). The new self-propelled gun, which received the designation SU-122P, had minimal differences from the SU-100. As before, when creating the SU-122P used chassis and the bulk of the components from the T-34-85, combat compartment and cabin borrowed from the "weave", also found a use of some units from the SU-85. Work on 122 mm self-propelled guns were advancing very quickly — a positive role is played by the same, the seats and the dimensions of the guns D-25S and D-10S. Externally, the protagonist of otlicials only in the presence of the muzzle brake.
