LT vz.38, also known as Panzerkampfwagen 38(t), Pz.Kpfw. 38 (t) — Czech light tank of the second world war.
Began production in 1938. It was exported to various countries: Sweden, Iran, Switzerland, Peru. Approximately 1,400 tanks of eight variants (Ausf A/B/C/D/E/F/S/G) were produced in various versions. It is considered the best tank of Czech construction.
Czech tanks in the composition of the German tank units participated in Polish and French campaigns. On 1 June 1941 in the army, there were 763 Pz.Kpfw.38(t). Together with the 189 captured LT-35, they accounted for almost a quarter of the Wehrmacht's tank fleet.
On 22 June 1941 in tank divisions Wehrmacht, directed in the USSR, there were about 600 units Pz.Kpfw. 38 (t), which was about 18 % of the total number of tanks involved in the attack on the USSR.
In battles on the Soviet-German front Pz.Kpfw. 38 (t) participated until the middle of 1942, when virtually all of them were lost or went out of order for technical reasons. The surviving German command car was used as training machines, as well as to combat partisans. Part of the machines (about 40) was transferred to the Slovak army.
