The Caterpillar D9 bulldozer is a commercial design, which is produced in the United States since 1955. Israeli Defense Forces acquired a number of these bulldozers. An add-on passive armor kit for the Caterpillar D9 bulldozers has been designed by Israeli Military Industries. Currently about 100 D9R armored bulldozers are in service with Israel. In 2003 US Army and Marine Corps acquired a total of 14 D9R armored bulldozers from Israeli army stocks for deployment in Iraq. This model has the painting of the US Marine Corps during the Second battle for Fallujah in Iraq, 2004. The model is built from a MENG kit, scale 1:35, painted with Tamiya acrylic, weathering effects are simulated using products from AK Interactive, AMMO, MIG. The picturesque and bright appearance was achieved through multi-layer painting (chipping technology or “hairspray”) to imitate voluminous surfaces worn to bare metal and rust.
