the First British and second in the world (After the Non-178) aircraft with turbojet engine. The aircraft made its first flight on may 15, 1941. Pioneer was created for flight tests of the W-1 turbojet engine with a centrifugal compressor. The second prototype tested the engine W-2B. Work on the project E 28/39 allowed the company Gloster to create the first English jet fighter - Meteor.
