Douglas C-47 Skytrain (air train) is an American transport aircraft developed on the basis of Douglas DC-3. The aircraft is known for its reliability, versatility and the ability to take a heavy load, exceeding the officially prescribed. The outstanding history of the aircraft includes episodes such as transportation through the Himalayan range, landing behind enemy positions in the "Day-D" and the delivery of goods to post-war Berlin. C-47 was so reliable that the US air force continued to use it in Korea and Vietnam. Some aircraft are used now, despite the solid age of the machine.
