T-55 was created on the basis of T-54 and adopted in 1958 virtually simultaneously was launched serial production this machines. More than 60 000 of such machines were created during production. The t-55 differed from its predecessors in a number of innovations. First of all, it should be noted the increase in engine power from 520 to 580 HP, for a more efficient start of which an air compressor was installed on the machine. The compressor also allowed to save the battery life without replacing the used air cylinders with charged ones.
