In 1964 the Gorky automobile plant began production of the army vehicle of the increased passability Gorky-66. The machine was intended for use by all types of armed forces in all road conditions. Gorky-66 was exported in large quantities and has proven itself in combat operations in various regions of the world. Gorky-66 was used to transport the anti-aircraft plant ZU-23-2 - twin 23mm anti-aircraft gun, as a method of towing, and to increase the speed of transportation in the back, in the fighting position.
