Heavy tank KV-1 ("Klim Voroshilov") - the first domestic heavy tank, which had a single-tower layout. Adopted in 1939. In 1941, the tank was produced with a 76.2-mm ZIS-5 gun with 114 rounds of ammunition and armored hull reinforced with additional 25-mm screens. The early version of the KV-1 of the 1941 model is characterized by a welded tower with a ZIS-5 gun with course and stern machine guns DT 7.62 mm. In the period 1940-1942, about 4800 kV tanks of various modifications were produced. KV tanks were widely used in the battles of the initial period of the great Patriotic war.
