the kV Heavy tank was designed to break through powerful defensive lines saturated with anti-tank artillery. Along with the linear tanks in the destruction of the strongholds of the defense a special role was given to the flame-thrower tanks. KV-8S - flamethrower tank based on KV-1C. The flamethrower was located in the tower next to the gun, the caliber of which had to be reduced to 45 mm. To mask the flamethrower tank under the linear, 45 mm gun was removed under the casing.
