from 1946 to 1959, an 82mm automatic mortar was developed in the USSR. The f-82 mortar passed field tests and was recommended for mass production. But the production did not go. In 1967, the development was resumed, and in 1970 was adopted 82-mm automatic mortar 2B9 "cornflower". Mortar 2B9 is designed to suppress enemy fire manpower, located openly and in the trenches. Mortar 2B9 was widely used in combat operations in Afghanistan and is now used in combat operations on the territory of the former USSR.
