the T-62 was originally designed to support the T-55, being basically a T-55 with a 115mm 2a20 cannon. Both tanks used the same rollers, engine, transmission and other components. The main difference between the T-62 was the elongated body and the tower of the new design. The new weapon was able to penetrate 300mm armor at a distance of 1000 meters, which was enough to deal with potential opponents - American M 48 and the later version of the British centurions. T-62 was designed to engage targets from a long distance, being used in conjunction with the T-55, but later he took the role of T-55. Despite the fact that the tank was created in 1960, and the T-72 surpassed it in most respects, the T-62 remains in the service of many armies to this day, the main exploiter are the Arab countries.
