BRDM-1 was an amphibious vehicle, an armored reconnaissance vehicle used in Russia and the former Soviet Union. It was originally known simply as BRDM but when BRDM entered production in the Soviet Army in 1962, he received the designation BRDM-1. BRDM (also known as BTR-40P) first appeared in 1957 and was in production until 1966. The total production was about 10,000 machines, less than 600 remained in the reserves of a number of countries.
