Additional Information
During World War II, the bulk of the German Wehrmacht' transport fleet consisted of trucks with a carrying capacity of 3 tons. One of the most popular was the KHD S3000 truck, which was produced since 1940 at the Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz plant in Ulm. The car was equipped with a 4-cylinder Deutz diesel engine and had drive only to the rear axle. KHD S3000 trucks were widely used by all branches of the German army throughout the war everywhere - on the Soviet-German front, in North Africa, Italy, France. In off-road conditions, non-all-wheel drive vehicles showed insufficient maneuverability, so the 1740 KHD S3000 were produced in the half-track Maultier (“Mule”) version in 1942 – 1944. This model is made in civilian livery, but in some cases requisitioned vehicles were used by the military in the same paint, so the model would look quite at home on a shelf next to a grey Opel Blitz or a camouflaged Bussing Nag. The model was built from a kit from ICM, with a homemade tarpaulin and complemented by stowage and gear (cable and spare tracks). The car looks like it went through a swamp, and this weathering effect was extremely difficult to reproduce, using liqiud mud from WILDER and improvised materials. Splashes, dust, and even fallen leaves on the roof bring maximum authenticity to the model! Notice how the dust is made on the windshield.Related Products
