Additional Information
The Mitsubishi A6M "Zero" is a long-range carrier-based fighter aircraft manufactured by Mitsubishi Aircraft Company, and was operated by the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) from 1940 to 1945. The Zero is considered to have been the most capable carrier-based fighter in the world when it was introduced early in World War II, combining excellent maneuverability and very long range. The Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service also frequently used it as a land-based fighter. A6M5 is a modification of the A6M3, on which a smaller wing span was installed - 11 meters (area 21.3 m²) with reinforced skin, which increased the roll speed and reached a speed of 657 km/h in a dive. The exhaust system was also redesigned - each pair of cylinders received an exhaust pipe instead of a common exhaust manifold - this gave several additional km/h to the speed. To prevent hot exhaust gases from burning through the casing in the area of the pipes, it was reinforced with steel sheets. The aircraft's speed increased to 565 km/h at 6000 meters, thus becoming the fastest modification of the Zero. A total of 1,701 aircraft were built. The model is built from a Tamiya kit, scale 1:48. Painted with preshading (darkening) for a more voluminous appearance of the model. All over the plane you can see chipped paint down to bare aluminum. Painting was done with RealColor acrylic paints from AK,Related Products
