T-62 was originally designed to support the T-55, being a t-55 in General with a more powerful, 115mm 2a20 cannon. The main difference between the two machines was the lightweight body of the T-62 and the tower of the new design. The shells of the new gun were able to penetrate 300 mm armor at a distance of 1000 meters, this was enough to defeat the American M48 and later versions of the British "centurion". Initially, the role of the T-62 was to defeat targets at a long distance, while the remaining tasks were performed by the T-55. But later, the T-62 performed all functions, becoming the world's first embodied concept of the Main battle tank.  Despite the appearance in 1960, and the best characteristics of the receiver T-72, T-62 is used to this day in many armies of the world. The most significant exploiter outside the Warsaw Pact are Arab countries such as Egypt, Iraq, Syria. Israel received a large number of T-62s in clashes with its neighbors, later upgrading a large part of the vehicles to its standards.
