Convinced of the high efficiency of the Soviet 120mm mortar fire, the Germans developed their 120mm mortar on the basis of documentation captured at one of the defense enterprises of Kharkov. The mortar was adopted by the Wehrmacht in 1943 under the designation "sGrW42"- heavy mortar of the sample of 1942 the Mortar was successfully used until the last days of the war.
