the German Ferdinand heavy assault gun is without a doubt the brightest and most famous representative of self-propelled guns of the second World war period. This armored "brand" is known to everyone. Although it was made only 90 "Ferdinand", 8,8 cm Pak 43/2 Sfl L/71 Panzerjager Tiger (P) Ferdinand – a designation in honor of its Creator Ferdinand Porsche, this tank destroyer received by personal order of Hitler. His name became a household name – on the Soviet-German front "Ferdinand" called any German ACS with the rear location of the combat Department. Renamed "elephant" after modernization in February 1944, this assault weapon was distinguished both on the Western and Eastern front – a powerful 88-mm gun and 200-mm armor made it a deadly enemy, capable of hitting any armored vehicles of the Allies at a distance of more than a kilometer and almost invulnerable to return fire.
