Germany relying on its mechanisms and guns received a heavy blow from the British Mark I in the battle of the Somme.These events forced Germany to take up the creation of its own tank, after several failures, the first A7V was put into service in early 1918. The square-shaped tank from a distance looked like a moving fortress, it was very different from the later machines. The crew was from 16 to 18 people, sometimes reaching 26, here A7V holds the record to this day.
